Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Six Additional Judges as Permanent at Punjab & Haryana High Court

Consultations were held with the Judges of the Apex Court and the Ministry of Law and Justice

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Six Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court be made permanent judges of the court.

The names of the Judges are Justice Vikas Bahl; Justice Vikas Suri; Justice Sandeep Moudgil; Justice Vinod Sharma (Bhardwaj); Justice Pankaj Jain; and Justice Jasjit Singh Bedi.

Earlier, in December 2022, the Collegium of the Punjab and Haryana High Court had recommended their names for appointment as permanent judges.

As per the resolution, the Chief Ministers and the Governors of the States of Punjab and Haryana had also concurred with the proposal.

The Supreme Court Collegium had consulted the Judges of the Apex Court conversant with the affairs of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and also the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The resolution stated, "The Judgment Evaluation Committee constituted in terms of the resolution dated 26 October 2017 of the Supreme Court Collegium to evaluate the judgments of the above-named additional judges, has submitted its report. The Committee, comprising two Supreme Court judges has noted the judgments of the candidates as very good (Serial no. i, v and vi), good (Serial no. ii & iii) and outstanding (Serial no. iv).”
