SpiceJet Notified By NCLT Over Insolvency Plea By Techjockey Infotech

The case will be heard on 14 November

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has notified the low-cost carrier SpiceJet over a petition by one of its operational creditors, Techjockey Infotech Pvt Ltd.

Software solutions startup Techjockey filed the case under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, against the cash-strapped airline. It was for an alleged default of Rs.1.18 crore from a 2021 agreement, wherein SpiceJet acquired cloud services.

The case adds to several insolvency cases against SpiceJet for unpaid dues to vendors and aircraft lessors. The pleas from Aircastle, AWAS 36698 Ireland, AWAS 36694 Ireland, and AWAS 36695 remain pending, along with Shannon Engine Support Ltd and Engine Lease Finance B.V.

Recently, the Supreme Court upheld the directive of the Delhi High Court that required SpiceJet to ground and return three aircraft engines leased from French companies due to non-payment of dues, while dismissing the airline’s appeal.

SpiceJet stated that discussions with aircraft lessors were being made to reach an amicable settlement.

The airline said, "It is important to note that two of the three engines are already grounded, and our operations remain completely normal and unaffected. We remain committed to ensuring seamless operations.”
