'Nyay Kaushal,' India's First-Ever e-Resource Center in Nagpur
Nyay Kaushal is the novel kind of e-Resources Centre in the Country, which is developed amidst the Covid-19 pandemic to provide ease of access and smooth functioning for e-filing and video conferencing to courts across the country from the Centre itself. It is equipped with features that will provide access to Supreme Court, other various High Courts, Courts in talukas and included Family and Labour courts.
Chief Justice of India, Justice SA Bobde and Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud (Justice and Chairman, e-Courts Committee, Supreme Court of India inaugurated 'Nyay Kaushal'-the first ever e-Resources Centre of the country at Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court.
"A dedicated platform designed for the layman as well as technologically challenged litigant desirous of approaching of approaching the court," the entire projects has been completed within a month which was finished by the e-Courts Committee of the Supreme Court under the vision of Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud.
At event, it was highlighted that to reduce the possibility of an internet lock-jam, the Centre has now been equipped with a high-speed internet facility up to the limit of 300MBPS.
CJI SA Bobde in his inaugural speech addressed the event, "When the pandemic had begun, everything appeared to be dangerous. We tried to let the Supreme Court function in a restricted manner, but one walk around the court showed that it was not possible to have Supreme Court function safely in that manner," which was accompanied by the statement, "Let Justice be done, though heavens may fall, made by the other present judges.
CJI appraised the efforts and offered his "congratulations and the highest praise to the courts, for ensuring that justice dispensation continued uninterrupted," and remarked that a challenge still existed before the courts owing to the current pandemic situation, because "though justice dispensation was continued uninterrupted, access to justice was divided depending on technology-availability and access."
"The inequalities of technological availability have to be removed," and remarked it would be considered as a 'failure' if justice did not reach 'everybody.'
To conclude his speech, he added that already 54 cases have been filed through the Nyay Kaushal facility which brings us to one step closer to progress.
Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud, chairman for the e-Court Committee, Supreme Court of India commended the e-revolution of Indian Courts in due to the daunting pandemic situation. He further elucidated additional facilities associated with e-Courts. Delhi was the first to start virtual mode courts across India with almost Twenty-Seven Thousand challans received by the Virtual Courts and Rs. 19.8 crores were collected by the Government online, stated by him.
It was announced, that the testing of the e-filing version 3.0 app, which comprises features like online filing of Vakalatnama, ready-made templates consisting of various routine applications and in which the advocate has also the option to add their partners and associates as well. Further, in respect of setting up of e-Sewa Kendras, he stated they have been started in 19 High Courts for their setting up.
