NCLT Principal Bench Live Streams Proceedings on YouTube for the First Time
The principal bench of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) launched live streaming of proceedings on YouTube for the first time. The live streaming of the proceedings of the principal bench was led by NCLT President Justice S Ramalingam who started on a pilot basis.
This initiative to livestream has been taken by the NCLT and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to promote transparency in the court proceedings for the benefit of litigants and stakeholders.
The MCA in a tweet said, “As a pilot, the proceedings of the Principal Bench of NCLT presided by Justice Sudhakar Ramalingam and Member Avinash Srivastava were on live broadcast on YouTube today.”
The streaming however is a pilot testing and may not immediately become a regular feature.
Notably, post Covid-19 pandemic several High Courts in the country have been live streaming Court proceedings on YouTube for more than a year now.
In late 2022, the Supreme Court started live streaming Constitution Bench proceedings for the first time.
The NCLT was constituted in 2016 to hear and adjudicate cases pertaining to the companies act 2013 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
The Tribunal has its Principal bench at New Delhi and other Benches at, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
