In 2019, the holding company for Ola, ANI Technologies had filed an application with the transport authorities seeking consent to begin bike- taxi services.
In ANI Technologies Private Ltd v. State of Karnataka and Ors, the Karnataka High Court of late ordered the State government not to take any forcible action against Ola offered bike-taxi services till the next hearing scheduled.
A court order was issued to the Central government by Justice Pradeep Singh Yerur and interim relief was given to Ola. He noted that similar interim relief had been granted to Roppen Transportation Services Private Ltd, which operates Rapido, a bicycle-taxi service.
In 2019, Ola's holding company, ANI Technologies, filed a request with the Chairperson of the State Transport Authority and the Commissioner of Transportation to begin offering bike-taxi services. The company's application for permission was not considered by the authorities even after they were given clear instructions that they should consider it.
Similar relief was granted to the other bike-taxi service, the Court decided that Ola was not entitled to any coercive action in regards to operating bike taxis within the area specified in their application for permission.
