Justice Amit Sharma has taken oath as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court. His appointment was cleared by the Central government recently.

In February, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended that Justice Sharma be made a permanent judge. The resolution passed by the Collegium noted that in January, the Delhi High Court Collegium had unanimously recommended Justice Sharma’s appointment.

Following that, the Supreme Court Collegium held a consultation with the Supreme Court judges conversant with the affairs of the Delhi High Court.

The Collegium evaluated the material placed on record, including the observations made by the Union Law Ministry's Department of Justice and the report of the Judgment Evaluation Committee constituted in terms of the October 2017 resolution of the Supreme Court Collegium.
