Government notifies new acting chief justices of Rajasthan, Patna and Manipur high courts

They will retire between 2024 and 2026

The Central government has notified the appointments of new acting Chief Justices to the high courts of Rajasthan, Patna and Manipur.

Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava will take over as acting chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court after the elevation of incumbent Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal to the Supreme Court.

Also, since Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah move to the apex court, the next senior-most judge, Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, will take over as Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

Meanwhile, Justice MV Muralidaran will serve as Acting Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, following the elevation of Justice PV Sanjay Kumar.

Justice Srivastava was appointed as an additional judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2009 and as a permanent judge in 2016, before his transfer to the Rajasthan High Court in 2021. He will retire in 2026.

Justice Singh was appointed as an additional judge of the Patna High Court in 2012 and as a permanent judge in 2016. He will retire in 2025.

Justice Muralidaran was appointed as a permanent judge of the Madras High Court in 2016 and was transferred to the Manipur High Court in 2019. He retires in 2024.
