The Central Government has notified the transfer of Judges of three High Courts. The move follows the recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium.
The names of the judges are Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh (from Allahabad High Court to Kerala High Court); Justice Manoj Bajaj (from Punjab and Haryana High Court to Allahabad High Court), and Justice Gaurang Kanth (from Delhi High Court to Calcutta High Court).
The Judges had placed individual requests to continue at their parent high court or be transferred to the neighboring states of their choice. However, the Collegium rejected the requests. In its resolution, the Collegium said there was no merit in the three judges’ request.
While Justice Bajaj desired to continue at the high court he is currently posted in, Justice Singh preferred a transfer to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, or Madhya Pradesh, and Justice Kanth wanted to shift to either Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan.
