Rajah & Tann Advised Vietjet Air on $8 Billion Engine Deal with CFM International

Rajah & Tann has advised Vietjet Air, Vietnam’s first privately owned airline, on reaffirming its $8 billion agreement with CFM International for the acquisition of over 400 advanced LEAP-1B engines. This strategic deal supports Vietjet’s rapid growth as a leading low-cost carrier in the Indo-China region.

The agreement was formalized in Paris during a ceremony attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, who welcomed Vietnam's leadership delegation as part of broader diplomatic discussions. The event highlighted the strengthening of Franco-Vietnamese relations and mutual economic interests.|

Paul Ng, head of aviation at Rajah & Tann Singapore, represented Vietjet Air in the transaction. In a statement, Rajah & Tann remarked, “The signing of this deal further underscores the return to growth in Southeast Asia’s aviation sector.”
